( he knows something's up with her. that much is easy to figure out. and if she won't tell him, then at least she'll have someone to talk to. god knows they wouldn't have resources like that in roarton. )
[she doesn't reply right away. she can't; her breath comes in quick, short bursts all stuttered and shaking in her chest. she can barely see, her eyes stinging as they glass up. she blinks away tears fast and hard and then: ]
( aand he's at jem's door in about five or so minutes. he's even bearing a packet of nice biscuits, because kieren understands the need for comfort food even if he doesn't eat.
[she isn't expecting him over; or at least, she isn't expecting him so soon. maybe she should have. they're similar, in this aspect. but Kieren's always been the more impulsive of the two. so, she opens the door with her hair tied back and with a cup of tea in hand, chewing away at what she thinks might have been left over pizza.
she stills, surprise evident on her face before it softens and she steps back to let him in. ]
